UK Pet Food welcomes new Associate Member - Sustainability Energy First

UK Pet Food are delighted to welcome Sustainable Energy First to our Associate Membership.

Sustainable Energy First (SE First) is a leading UK energy and sustainability consultancy, supporting organisations to reduce energy costs, improve operational efficiency and achieve their sustainability ambitions. Through a comprehensive suite of services including energy procurement, carbon reporting, compliance management, net zero consultancy and renewable energy solutions, SE First helps organisations make smarter energy decisions and build a more sustainable future.

We're also thrilled to confirm that Sustainable Energy First will be joining us at our Annual Convention this November, where they'll be sharing insights on energy and supply chain volatility, and the implications for cost, risk and long-term planning.

We welcome their expertise, which will help our members navigate energy costs, market volatility and the transition towards net zero - one of the main 5 focus areas of the Sustainable Ambition 2030 for the pet food industry.

How SE First is supporting organisations through change

With ongoing market volatility, evolving legislation and increasing pressure to meet sustainability targets, UK Petfood Members require trusted partners who can help them make informed decisions.

SE First already works with UK Pet Food companies, alongside clients across sectors including manufacturing, education, commercial property, healthcare, hospitality and the public sector, delivering practical solutions that generate measurable results.

Commenting on the importance of expert guidance in today's market, Joint Managing Director of SE First, Anthony Mayall said:

Organisations are facing significant challenges as they balance rising operational pressures, energy market uncertainty and increasingly ambitious sustainability targets. At Sustainable Energy First, we're committed to helping our clients navigate these challenges with confidence, providing practical advice and tailored strategies that deliver long-term value, cost savings and meaningful environmental outcomes.

Providing UK Pet Food Members with authentic renewable energy

One of the unique ways SE First can help clients is through their green energy procurement product – ‘The Sustainable Energy Consortium’ (SEC). This innovative renewable energy purchasing model has been developed by SE First to make renewable electricity procurement more accessible, transparent and cost-effective.

By bringing together a collection of over 100 different renewable energy generators harnessing solar, wind and hydro power across the UK, and a growing network of energy users, SEC enables organisations to access traceable renewable electricity without the complexity often associated with traditional Power Purchase Agreements.

For businesses within the pet food sector, SEC can help improve energy cost certainty, support carbon reduction objectives, enhance ESG reporting, and contribute towards net zero commitments while maintaining focus on operational performance and sustainable growth.

Anthony Mayall is one of SE First’s joint Managing Directors. He started in the energy sector over 30 years ago as an electrical engineering apprentice and could be found at times in the depths of a hydro station’s inner workings building out switchgear and control systems. With his early years specialising in control systems and product development, this ultimately led him into commercial strategic roles – enabling businesses to thrive in the ever-changing energy and carbon landscape

With hands-on experience from creating energy efficiency programs, to enabling on-site renewable energy generation, Anthony has a firm belief that you don’t have to sacrifice economics to be environmentally conscious.

Together, they form part of SE First's wider team of specialists, providing clients with access to expert advice across energy procurement, carbon management, compliance, renewable technologies and sustainability strategy. Get in touch today with SE First through [email protected]
