This session will provide an opportunity to better understand Import Control System 2 (ICS2) and how businesses can prepare ahead of the end of the implementation window on 31 December 2025.
ICS2 is the EU’s new mandatory digital system for advanced safety and security declarations for all goods entering the EU. It replaces current systems to enhance risk assessment and streamline customs procedures across air, sea, road and rail freight. Under ICS2, economic operators, including shippers, carriers and postal services must electronically submit detailed pre-arrival data such as goods descriptions, sender and recipient information, and tariff codes. These changes aim to improve border security and support more efficient trade flows.
During the session, HMRC will provide an overview of ICS2 and highlight what is changing, followed by a Q&A and open discussion focusing on the specific issues and challenges facing the food and drink sector.
