The global food system is one of the biggest contributors to climate change and nature loss. As part of this system, the pet food industry has both an impact and an opportunity to play a positive role in reducing waste, using resources responsibly, and improving efficiency across the value chain.
UK Pet Food’s Sustainability Ambition 2030 provides a roadmap for reducing impact and amplifying the pet food sector’s contribution to a sustainable food system. Developed in collaboration with members and stakeholders, the Ambition outlines our collective pathway towards a healthier planet for pets, people and nature.

Our five focus areas form the framework for our collective action under Sustainability Ambition 2030, guiding progress. Contribute to the UK’s Nature Positive ambition to halt and reverse nature loss by 2030. We will help pet owners protect and enjoy nature
3. Sustainable Commodities
Eliminate deforestation and conversion from directly sourced ingredients by 2030
4. Circular Food System
Optimise the use of co-products, innovative solutions, alternative ingredients and efficient manufacturing to reduce environmental impacts
5. Packaging
Contribute to implementing a world-class packaging recycling system in the UK, reducing the environmental impact of packaging.
