Our online 'Pet food & nutrition' programme is a flexible series of webinars that provides an all-round introduction to nutrition, pet food production and marketing regulations.
Ideal for busy professionals, with three half-day virtual sessions per week for two weeks, attendees can sign up for specific sessions only, or attend the entire two-week programme. Attendance of the full two-week course provides over 22 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

Who is the course suitable for?
The course is tailored for all pet care professionals interested in pet nutrition and pet food production, including:
- UK Pet Food members
- Professionals working in pet food, animal feed or premix sectors
- Animal nutritionists
- Veterinary professionals
Pet food retailers, pet shop staff and the grocery sector
- Pet welfare charities, rehoming and rescue centres
- Other pet professionals
We also welcome students (veterinary, animal science, post-graduate) with an interest in a career in the pet food industry. Our pet nutrition course will increase knowledge and understanding of the sector and could put you in a better position when applying for jobs.
How is the course delivered?
Our online course is designed to suit busy professionals, with the flexibility to register for daily or weekly webinars, or the full two-week programme. The programme is delivered via Zoom across a two-week period, through seven half-day webinars.

Sessions & timetable:
Week 1: Animal nutrition
- Pet nutrition (including dog, cat, small mammal, bird and fish nutrition)
- Clinical nutrition for dogs and cats
- Pet obesity (causes, consequences, weight management and prevention)

Week 2: Pet food legislation, marketing & manufacturing
- UK / EU Legislation: animal by-products regulation, additives & feed materials
- Palatability & marketing regulations
- Manufacturing safety & quality: wet, semi-moist, raw & dry pet foods
- Applying the knowledge & principles of pet food formulation

How much does the course cost?
Webinar pricing is dependent on the number of half-day sessions you sign up for, with a special reduced rate for attending the full series of six sessions.
- Discounted rates apply to UK Pet Food members, veterinary professionals, pet welfare charities and members of FEDIAF or GAPFA
- Groups of three or more attendees will also receive a discount when booked together (we may offer further discounts to group bookings larger than 10, so contact us to find out more)
