Campaigning for better understanding

We believe that animal welfare starts with great quality nutrition.

UK Pet Food is committed to empowering pet owners to make well-informed choices about pet nutrition & to support vets and pet care professionals in their conversations with owners on nutrition.

Our members proudly feed over 36 million pets across the UK, a responsibility we take very seriously. We are dedicated to producing high-quality, nutritious, and safe pet food while offering clear guidance to pet owners on responsible feeding.

We work closely with FEDIAF, the European Pet Food Association, and leading authorities as we strive to maintain a balanced regulatory framework for the production of safe and nutritious pet food. Our commitment to excellence drives us to continuously raise industry standards.

Education and myth-busting

UK Pet Food works with nutrition experts to create factsheets, posters, and tools that educate pet owners on key nutrition topics. These resources are also shared with vets, welfare groups, and pet shops to aid their discussions with pet owners.

Our Pet Care Advice hub is your go-to resource for all things pet nutrition.

Whether you care for cats, dogs, rabbits, pet birds, or fish, we've got you covered. Discover expert guidance on what to feed your pet, how much, and when, all in one convenient place.

Knowledge-building campaigns

Our goal is for UK Pet Food to become the leading resource for pet nutrition information in the UK, helping pet owners and professionals make evidence-based, sustainable choices for the health and happiness of pets.

Our latest campaign, ‘Love Them Madly, Feed Them Wisely’, empowers pet owners to make informed nutrition choices. It introduces accessible, plain language to simplify scientific terminology that can often hinder understanding of optimal pet nutrition.

Our campaign introduces a suite of valuable resources, including an updated website, comprehensive factsheets and bespoke training materials for vets and professionals working across the pet food industry.

We have also worked with Cat Henstridge (aka Cat the Vet) who has created some short videos to help remove the complexity around scientific terminology that can be an obstacle for owners – and pet professionals.

We also offer a range of training throughout the year, including our popular Pet Food and Nutrition course. Some of these events are open to non-members and the wider pet industry, whereas others are member-only—or members receive a significant discount on the cost.
